Oh, give me a break. You don't have to be a duke to keep your farts to yourself. I find it classist that there is no expectation of decorum for these people because they're a stereotype of poor rednecks that is being fetishized for some reason I cannot fathom.

Yes. It's this demented cult of "authenticity," (see Rebel Sell by two U of Toronto guys) in which people buy in to this bizarre false dichotomy that lovely manners on the outside = ugly on the inside, and therefore ugly on the outside must mean a lovely inner soul. Better to be the Honey Boo Boo family than crass,

I actually did know most of that, and it's great. But it doesn't excuse such poor manners, I'm sorry. It's possible to be well-mannered and generous. We don't have to give people a lot of attention for being gross just because they're kind.

I'm sorry, Honey Boo Boo's behavior is disgusting and I see no reason to laud the family she learned it from. There are plenty of families who are both civilized and loving. They aren't on TV because, well, see that point about them being civilized.

I feel like I need to learn to dance and am willing to put in the time to do it, but what if they don't play the EXACT song you learn the dance to in the club?

I don't mean to be an asshole, because I admire her dedication and all, but this isn't exactly what I would call dancing "like a pro."

Shut up.

I think it's because Diddy and Pinnochio sound like a possible name for a cop series. The two names flow well together like BJ & The Bear, Turner and Hooch, Roselie & Isles ( spelled that wrong i know). he couldhave gone with someone like Jay-Z but Jay Z & Pinnochio dosen't have quite the same ring to it.

Well I'm glad a man set me straight on how to feel about my body.

See, here's the problem with this kind of double-edged fear-mongering: people are up in arms that this couple is being coerced into keeping an unwanted pregnancy, and simultaneously saying how "icky" pregnancy, and god-forbid, special needs kids would be - the old "I couldn't do it, I don't know how those sainted

I think there are definitely strong tones of ablism in this article. For some reason people find it OK to suggest that "so many mistreated babies and kids with Downs live terrible lives." Where are you getting this information? Why is this any different then any other able bodied child? Lots of kids leave terrible

Totally agreed. "There are disabled people who need help, so make sure that nobody has disabled children anymore!" is such a horrible, cruel argument to hear as a disabled person. Please don't try to erase us from planet earth.

actually (hate to burst your bubble), the Catholic Church is HUGE into social justice, helping the homeless, the mentally ill, the imprisoned, the less fortunate. They lobby government when social system cuts are floated out there.

"So many mistreated babies and kids with Downs live terrible lives." Wtf? Look, I'm pro-abortion, and if I found out I was carrying a baby with Down's, I would have an abortion, for my own reasons...BUT BUT BUT, you simply cannot throw that sentence in there and use it as a pro-abortion argument! You cannot say to

It doesn't sound like the woman is being coerced. According to the story, she contacted the adoption agency first. So, it seems like she didn't want to terminate unless it was her only option.

Has Michael K seen this? Look what he has on his site today. What great timing!

I am pretty all those guys are pro-choice. I watched the discussions yesterday. Please don't hate on these guys. This is kind of a terribly unfair picture.

They do look bored in the pictures, but I'll vouch for those guys. They are Rep. Burnam and Rep. Gutierrez- both Democrats who have been active in the fight to preserve reproductive rights over the last weeks (and years, for that matter.) I think, more than boredom, you're probably witnessing their dejected

It's actually a pretty common way for Christians to address each other. Since Christians are considered the "children of God," that makes them brothers and sisters in Christ.

Heavy flower here. Doubling up with tampons and pads are all that saves me from having to go buy new underwear every day of my period. I'll keep them, thank you very much.
