I had never heard that. Where I live there’s no emissions testing, so people around me keep the weirdest cars on the road indefinitely...because they can. Weird engine swaps and no cats are vey common.

I would be surprised if this happened, in spite of the weird crap cans that are commanding top dollar from boomers these days.
Ah yes, the lovely SHOstar.....
Somebody say turbo and five speed?
2 words: Turbo, 5-speed.
I have a line on each right now. Trying to decide whether I want the turbo or the AWD. If the turbo was a stick, it’d already be in the driveway.
AWD vans are very rare. The AWD setup is actually very solid on them.
yes you are correct, turbo went out when awd came in.. although I swear we had a neighbor with some such thing, probably a v6 awd model, I remember my parents mentioning something about mr. fancy pants and his special order caravan
The turbo 5-speed vans are already bringing over $5k in decent shape.
That’s 1 of 2 I have right now. Working on a 3rd.
That is all you have to say about the Windstar “based on the Taurus platform”. My parents had one when I was a kid and that thing ate front rotors, imagine that? A car chassis with an extra 1000lbs strapped to it didn’t do wonders for the under sized front rotors? The 3.8l V6 was good for burnouts though.
Now is this going to come full circle such CUV’s are killing the minivan?
Turbo and AWD were never an option together.
Already on it
CUVs are an abomination , a crime against the automotive gods. Minivans are at least versatile and practical.
No sadder than only getting 114 hp out of a six cylinder turbo diesel.
NP, I’d buy it just to Roll Coal at some Bro Truck.
My father was the best mechanic I have ever known ( both aircraft and automotive) and my brother wasn’t far behind him. That plus having a couple 200 dollar cars when I was a teenager did the trick. I think what really separates a great mechanic from a good one though is patience. That, unfortunately cannot be taught.
“Have no money” is also a very effective strategy.
Doesn’t matter the age. My mother had never done much till she retired and just shy of 60 she picked up wood working - she now makes high end custom cabinetry with high end finishes all by herself.
