I miss SCC so much :(

Sports Compact Car says “amateurs”.

Ok if you don’t get Velocity channel go to Philo TV and you can a free 7 day trial which gives you Velocity channel. You don’t need a credit card number, just your mobile phone #. I did it and it’s legitimate and most importantly it works.

Directv now and playstation vue both have tiers with velocity channel and a free trial period.

I firmly believe the SKX007 is the single best value for money watch there is, period. The movement and accuracy, build quality, water resistance/indestructibility, and classic style are unbeatable.

That’s a good point. I said “submariner style” as a quick shorthand, but you’re right, Seiko’s legacy is long and distinct.

Come on now Bradley, how can any list talking about good affordable watched not include the Seiko SKX007? It is the definitive mechanical watch in this price range, even high end watch snobs respect the 007. It’s also infinitely customizable if you’re into that sort of thing.

For someone who appreciates automotive technology and then wants something as superfluous as a wristwatch to express that, a quartz movement doesn’t quite make it. A gearhead watch should have gears in it.

I just bought a cheap Seiko for like $70 on Amazon because I wanted an automatic watch instead of Quartz.

Now that I’ve had an automatic, I never want another Quartz.

100% agreed and glad to see this is the first comment. This list is deplorable.

Oh Yeah Cocktail Time FTW!!!! This is already a classic as Seiko downgraded its succesors with hollow links and the 4R movements

Shinola is a shady “American” company with overpriced watches IMO and they wont get a single Dollar from me. I’d rather get a Seiko, Citizen, Casio or Timex

Ugh, not a good list. Bonus points for Seiko but way to many over priced quartz movements. Shinola...seriously?

Nice to see some great Seiko choices in the list. In my opinion, they’ve always been the smart choice for the person who wants a high-quality watch at an attainable price.

I got my SARB33 about 2 weeks ago, love it. Got it for alittle more sadly since it’s been discontinued. Great watch to rock for formal and casual.

One of the least expensive automatics you can buy. In the right color, you can add a leather band to dress it up. But best of all, it shows the day of the week, so you always have the answer when you wonder whether it’s Tuesday or Wednesday or whether it even matters.

Marathon Basic Field Watch. Tritium dial for night. Can be had in quartz or (my preference) automatic winding. Under $300 if you shop around on the net.

My daily jammy: Seiko SARB065. JDM, mechanical 6bps, guilloche, sub-$400

I’ve always had a soft spot for the Z4, and I completely blame Clive Owen for it.

I’ve been passed by a good driver in a track-prepped Miata before. My local track (Hallett) definitely favors the light!
