I think it has to do with the fact that because this isn’t an especially diverse game, those stereotypes are more of an issue. If this game was telling a story that included characters of a variety of races, and portrayed them as complex human beings with backgrounds and motives, then it’s not as much of an issue

this seems relevant to splatoon and definitely not meant to be on the pokemon go article ;)

I learned that lesson real quick. I mean, real quick.

They should add in more realism.

I think Atari will soon need to bury this hat in the desert.

Unlikely, That Fest sold out in 10 minutes or less. I live in Chicago and couldn’t get a ticket.

Others have already said it, but what Dolezal did (and is still attempting to do) is the very height of racial/cultural tourism—because the day she stops taking melanin treatments/tanning/whatever she’s done to alter her skin tone, she can go back to being a white woman—with all of the social advantages and privileges

Racism isn’t only about hate. It’s about the belief that “races” are all definably different. “Asians are good at math” is still racist, even though it’s a positive statement.

You say offended, I say the person I responded to doesn’t know what they’re talking about. If anything, you’re the one who sounds a bit pressed right now, bruh.

That’s a whole lotta text just to say “I’m a white dude and I have no idea what I’m talking about.”

First: we’re allowed to make fun of people for doing stupid shit because freedom of expression is, like. A thing. (Doesn’t make it right or wrong; it just is what it is.)

Good question!

I’d say it seems like she is in the wrong in her interactions with these studios, but where do people get off justifying harassment? Isn’t your comment, at the very least, the pot calling the kettle black?

As someone who was only ever a casual fan of anime in the first place, fanservice has pretty much driven me away from it almost entirely.

Still can’t stand fanservice.

One minute, but three thousand people, so...

Believe it or not, Splatoon is freakin’ huge over there. Splatoon 2 is gonna do gangbusters.

As I mentioned, they have a raffle. You line up, you get a number, and then, you see if you are selected. So in Tokyo today, three thousand people lined up, but there were only 250 Switch consoles.

Definitely going to pick up Splatoon 2 this week! The early Splatfest was super fun and I actually learned how to use something that wasn’t a roller!
