With all the praise that this game has gotten the few times they have shown it, it's tough to feel like games media doesn't already have their minds made up about it. Like the question has already moved from, "will it be any good?" to, "on a scale from 9 to 10, how great will it be?"

I was particularly tickled that the internet could come together and succeed against all odds to complete a game of Pokémon. That this succeeded was the biggest surprise of the year for me.
