Tropic Thunder not that popular?  What the hell are you talking about?

I have no issues with a guy who is 6'10 PG not shooting from further than 10 feet out. But they had to already have known that a PG was not what they needed when they drafted Fultz. Simmons is not a “Point Forward.” He is a 6'10 fucking point guard. Nothing wrong with that. But the obvious choice was adding another

I think where the distinction comes in is how the player gets into the paint with the ball. Traditionally, a center would plop themselves down low and be fed the rock, followed by the subsequent bruising it would take to get their buckets.

Russell Westbrook is a trash shooter but I think he’d be more embarrassed to pass up a crazy wide-open look than he would be to air-ball the shot.  Simmons just needs to adjust his mindset about this.

I have no firm basis for this, but my sense is that this is largely a personality thing. Simmons strikes me as, like, incredibly prideful and self-conscious on the court, for good and for ill, and in this case I think he’s just not willing to look like a klutz. I mean obviously he’ll need to keep improving his

From what I’ve seen of McConnell, the nba 3 is out of his comfortable range. Everytime I’ve seen him shoot a three he distorts his shoulder forward while shooting from 3 like he’s straining to get a little extra distance to get the ball to the hoop.

Neither Fultz nor Simmons were injured when they were drafted so:  no.

Ten years from now there are going to be a staggering number of THINKPIECE LONGFORMS on how Colangelo fucked what could have been an incredible team.

He’s extremely good at a number of valuable NBA skills. He also has a glaring deficiency in one of if not the single most valuable one in today’s NBA. It seems like how that should work out is that he’ll be fine and a really good player on a team in which he can be the one guy on the floor for his team that can’t

we’ve been waiting for him to pull an Inigo Montoya and say “I... am not left-handed!” but I don’t think it’s coming

Nah, the modern NBA CAN shoot, and threes to boot.

The worst part of that video (for a Sixers fan) is the way he was defended as he dribbled out the 3-point line. I’m not entirely sure who was guarding him, because the entire team simultaneously *turned their fucking backs on him*.

Are you certain that he isn’t a center? With where the NBA is in 2018, a guy who’s 6'10", doesn’t shoot, but bullies people in the lane sure sounds like a center to me...a slightly undersized center, maybe, but a center nonetheless.

The craziest part is that this is the absolute ideal situation for him to work on his jumper. The East is so weak they will easily make the playoffs, probably even have a top 4 seed, even if they lose a bunch of games while he works on his shot. The team is talented enough, and the season is long enough, to take a

A fun stat I forgot to add to this post: According to Basketball Reference, so far this season Simmons is taking around 90 percent of his shot attempts from inside 10 feet. That’s pretty incredible for a guard, even one with the body of a center.

You are not wrong.

Before Greg Oden, Cartwright was the first example one would deploy against the argument that “black don’t crack.” Dude looked 65 during that first Bulls threepeat run, and the free throws were no small part of it.
