He really is very talented. I brought up 1Q84, which obviously needed an editor, but parts of it are spectacular. But, christ, the sex scenes are consistently hilariously terrible.

Most of what they say is nonsense, but these guys are a blast to watch either way.

Murakami has always written awful sex scenes like that. In every one of his books (it seems), there is, at some point, a character who is clearly a stand in for Murakami fucking some gorgeous, young woman in incredibly graphic and obnoxious ways. 1Q84, in particular, has some of the worst sex scenes I’ve ever read.

I feel bad for Deshaun Watson because Mahomes took the “most exciting 2nd year QB” trophy and went supernova. Now that Watson is rounding back into form, there’s not nearly as much hype around him as there should be.
