Thank you to the soul of John McCain, which has entered Jeff Flake’s body and combined with Flake soul to create the ultimate “maverick republican” being. The courage it took to demand a 4 day long investigation that doesn’t bother to interview the leading figure accusing Kavanaugh! I cannot imagine!

Yep.

I’ll ignore the fact that you’re missing the entire point and that I wasn’t criticizing the senators here (and they are cowards for hiding behind a woman doing their jobs; if they don’t want to be seen as bullies, maybe ask questions that won’t give that impression). I was criticizing Mitchell. But anyway:

One night in a little saloon in Fort Stockton, Texas, I ripped a man’s leg off and beat another man to death with it. The West Texas desert ran red with blood that night, my friends, and it pooled underneath the I-10's overpass and I bathed as a grackle does in the puddled muddy water of the rolling thunderstorms

I know. I was being sarcastic, but that was ultimately the problem. If he couldn’t move the needle with democrats in the primaries (and he very much did not - I can’t name you a single thing he was running on and I was paying a lot of attention at the time), it doesn’t bode well for his chances of talking to anyone

Who?

She exposed herself as a partisan hack by accepting that job. No self-respecting person would accept a job being a human shield for a bunch of octogenarian cowards who are afraid of a smart woman.

Yep! At the very least. We’ll see how thorough they allow it to be. That they’re maxing it at a week and limiting it to “current and credible allegations” (whatever they mean by that) does not instill much confidence.

Possibly it was emotional and spur of the moment, not a polished, prepared speech?

If he has more victims, I certainly hope so.

Read the room, man.

If you’re comfortable with the word of Jeff Flake, fine. He could have voted no unless there was an investigation; he chose to vote yes. That’s what I’m taking from today.

I am very much perfectly content.

You’re forgetting Manchin. Very possibly Heitkamp.

You’ve got it wrong though. He will never have more power to force an investigation than he just had by withholding his vote. It was an 11-10 vote. He just had the chance to single-handedly force an investigation. He chose not to do so.

It changes literally nothing in terms of the nomination. He voted for Kavanaugh once without an investigation while pretending he stood up to his party. There’s still no investigation. He can act like he wants one for a few days before putting on a show of reluctance again next week before voting for his confirmation

Yes. Cynically trying to shift a conversation to something that it isn’t about to avoid acknowledging the fact that, yes, yesterday’s events (both Dr. Ford’s and his own testimony) do indeed make it clear that he is not worthy of a seat on the Supreme Court makes you an enormous pile of shit.

Let it never be said that Jeff Flake didn’t learn well from John McCain.

He’s literally the most cowardly man in a country whose president is Donald Trump. That’s all that’s going on here.
