It is kind of a brilliant dig. Say what you want about Schumer (and I will - he’s mostly a useless, corny, photo-op loving dinosaur), but he’s a very smart person. That this could be a passive aggressive political move to get the GOP to spend a news cycle defending another known racist shouldn’t be ruled out.
