I once had a boss fold her arms like a child and refuse to accept my resignation. After about 10 minutes I gave up trying and just walked down the hall and gave it to the head of HR. Apparently, she felt it looked bad on her if one of her direct reports quit. Previously she had announced another woman’s retirement

As someone who follows the Cubs, I feel like it must be really nice to root for a team that is willing to spend whatever to takes to maximize their chances of winning the World Series.

As a Cardinals fan, I am deeply, deeply saddened by this year’s trade deadline. And the past several years, for that matter.

He’s impressed the hell out of me with this, I gotta say. This run must make up for the few years of absolute suck that preceded it. If your guys’ bullpen is any good, I can’t fathom them being stopped.

Update (4:17 p.m. ET): Also they have Zack Greinke now.

We need more rain on F1 races. This was the best race of the season. So much action, so much carnage, and just a fun time overall.

Imagine gutting through the Jeffrey Loria years, but cutting ties when Jeter comes along.

I’m reminded of the first gen NSX back in 89 or whenever it was. Utterly changed supercars forever from unlivable crap into something you could daily drive. I’m not sure what this is going to change (maybe just charging an arm and a leg for supercars), but I bet it’s as significant.

Olive, the other reindeer

I would add that this era’s big 4 being pretty much all top notch players on each surface sets it apart and puts it ahead. As great as Sampras was on everything else he of course was a relatively normal player on clay and while Agassi was better on clay I think it’s fair to say throughout their run there was always at

I remember my older cousin in the late 80s telling me how great Agassi was going to be, wearing the same shoes as Agassi, and then Agassi had some off-court issues that paused his career (which somewhat ironically my cousin and I both fell victim to) until his resurgence in the later 90s. And as great as those years

My only question would be, can this be considered a Golden Era when there’s almost no gap between the previous heralded era?

Murray is an amazing player, and in any other era, he would probably be the best, but as good as he is, I just don’t think he’s on the same level as the other 3.

It really is amazing at how long these three have been at the top. I’m certain this era will be looked back on as a golden age.

Awww man....spoiler alert with that headline....I was going to watch the match on Wednesday. Now my whole week is ruined. SAD.

Following this game, I just once again considered how fortunate I have been, even as a casual, to have been able to follow the sport during the Federer/Nadal/Djokovic(/Murray) era. Especially since I realize that it will only hit me how special it has been after it has ended.

You know, if you were a real fan of the race, you’d have been watching the race live on TV. Oh wait...

I mean, following the live stream on the website. Oh wait...

I mean, listening to terrestrial radio and watching T&S screens? Yeah, that’s the one.

Bingo.

There are hundreds of ways to watch F1 without paying for it. There are hundreds of ways to avoid spoilers if you can’t watch it until after it’s over.
