Indycars have no power steering, that might be a strong contributor. But as someone else pointed out, most F1 tracks are much more smooth than some of the Indycar courses.

There’s no blue or green turtle shells in F1.

Weight?

Aero is indeed everything . It also reflects on how many teams need much more corrective input on slower corners, while Mercedes can take an angle and trust that the car stays glued to the track.

Absolutely to both. There are different aero philosophies and the front suspension packaging is different on all the teams. You can read example about the different aero this year from below link that has essentially screwed Ferrari that can’t obviously change the whole car anymore. Mercedes is famous for its high

Do also remember that F1 is not a spec series. There is a reason Mercedes has been dominating for past years and dominates this year.

I live in St Pete, we have an Indy race, and the track is so rough. The drivers are fighting the car non-stop. There’s no way F1 cars could handle it. The other obvious one is the quality of aerodynamics.

Beautifully written Mike. I remember finding this site sometime in the 2005-2007 era and it completely changed how my teenage mind thought of cars. Likely were it not for the two of you I wouldn’t be where I am today, continuously in the search for a brown manual diesel miata wagon.

C’mon, it’s Hank Scorpio.

It’s not so much hate as recognizing a disingenuous reaction from Hamilton. I don’t so much care that he called for the penalty, it just seems like he’s playing a part to avoid as much blowback as possible.

Hell of an obituary right there.

Great player. Rest in peace.

Tragic 24 hours for college sports, the wife and daughter of Wisconsin basketball assistant Howard Moore were killed by a wrong way driver in Michigan late the previous night.

Yes indeed. I live in Pacific time and flubbed that one. Thanks, it’s been corrected.

And in case anyone wonders what his time was and how it compares to F1:
-He did 1:46.0177
-F1 2018 Pole was 1:37.392
