I may not be the smartest man around, but even I know enough not to go to a racing website if I want to watch the race later. Idiota.

Every time I see these cars I think about doing triple digits in THOSE cars and on THOSE tires.
Houstonian here as well (Willowbrook), and drive an ‘02 civic si with 195k on the clock.....NEVER had grinding between 1st and 2nd unless it was 100% operator error.
Off topic, but I gotta say, I’ve never met anyone else who knows of Black Forest. Moved there in 72, graduated Rampart in 86, college at CSU. The house I grew up in in Black Forest, about a mile SW of Wolford Elementary, was destroyed, as were all my friends houses in that area. I also recall the South Canyon fire....
‘Preciously’ or ‘previously’....;)
I tend to get that a lot, that I apply logic. Annoys the hell out of my co-workers, and is one of the primary reasons I got divorced, apparently. :)
Got an 02 Civic si, 5 speed, and I love showing off the engine braking to my 12 year old son. Facsinates him. That said, pads are generally cheaper than gears, so I usually toss it in neutral and let the brakes handle it.
Oh hecks to the yeah. I’d watch the hell out of that. Get rid of ALL driver aids, make them use three pedals and one hand a few hundred times a lap, and then toss them on, say, Suzuka. Or Spa. In the rain. That would be awesome. Those are two tracks that a VERY good at sorting the wheat from the chaff.
I will go to my grave saying that Elway was the greatest QB of all time, and he had you guys beat until the damn band showed up. :)
Even though yer a Cal fan, that should be COTD.
Came here for this, am NOT leaving disappointed. Glad someone remembered the eels are only ODOT’s second best day. :)
I remember waaaay back in the dark ages of the late 80's, when I was in college, my roommate and I went to the store just a wee bit left of sober. Got all SORTS of good munchies stuff, went home, put everything away, then proceeded to put on a movie and sate our bellies. A couple hours later one of the dough cylinders…
No, he was talking the oval part. The link is at
Does anyone else see this as a possibly very bad idea? I mean, Schumi famously turned down Indy as ‘too dangerous’ or some such (cant recall the entire quote) ajd Alonso has ZERO experience on high speed ovals. I recall Piquet having a very bad experience there as well. While I am excited to see it, I am definitely…
As a transplanted Yankee, its been odd living in Texas. Absolutely fantastic human beings who will gladly give you the shirt off of their back, but for the love of all holy, do not cut them off. And as they give out pistols with Happy Meals down here, every one is armed.
Well, I may take a poll, but regardless of your grammar, my pop has met him, and had nothing but the highest praise. I can’t speak to that, as I never have; I did get to meet many of the early astronauts, however, as my pop worked with Rockwell and Martin-Marietta (now Lockheed-Martin).
Did you forget about Yeager? I just hope he gets OUT of 2016.....
Excellent writing, Dave. Her story reminds me of Caroline Knapp (author of ‘Drinking; A Love Story), save for one detail; Caroline got sober. Lung cancer got her at 42 or 43, but not drinking.
Well, crap. I just read this news on ESPN. That sucks.
Sounds like a house I remodeled once.....once.....
