Hello, fellow grad student and fellow mover for grad school!

I admit I’m not a fan of Jane Marie personally (not since the reactions to her articles about flying with her daughter or trying to get a neck tattoo), so I’m biased, but I have to agree with you here. This was really not very good advice.

I’ve said that I hate defending Melania on here, but I end up saying this anyway. Just because someone makes mistakes in speaking doesn’t mean they aren’t fluent. Fluency isn’t just being able to speak without mistakes, but also about understanding and communicating. I have colleagues that make many more mistakes

Estonia wants to get in on the jokes, too! We’re Nordic!

I got mine at 23, but it took about 6-7 doctors and I got lucky.

But then how will I be horribly racist?! Won’t you think of my sensibilities?

From your comment, I’m guessing you’re also straight, in which case, yeah, male nudity isn’t going to do much for you. But honestly, most straight women feel that way about other naked women - it’s not really the woman that’s sexy, it’s the scene or what it represents.

I cannot argue with your last statement, as it applies very well to me. The older I get, the more anti-social I become. I just enjoy not having other people around unless there’s a reason to (e.g.: I want to have a chat with someone, celebrating someone’s job promotion, etc.).

I went to Lollapalooza in my early 20s, never having been to a festival before.

He reminds me so much of the 80s Business Guy from Futurama - just a weird, gross parody of that macho business guy doing business deals all the time and crushing all the little guys along the way. I can’t find the clip I want of him, so this one will have to do.

I’ve seen a number of bodies - mostly loved ones or friends. It would be upsetting to see someone do something to those bodies that the person it once was wouldn’t approve of, because that’s all you have left of them. It’s hard to separate the person that was once alive, having see that person smile and laugh and

Exactly. Some of the snobbiest “foodies” I know are American, on behalf of someone else’s culture.

This poor kid. Hearing her tell her mother, “It’s okay, I’m here with you,” and “I can keep you safe,” just stabs you. She’s heard that from adults in her life, and she’s trying to do everything she can to make it okay. It’s just such a horrible, heavy burden for such a little kid to carry, and she’s trying so hard

Even if he did, if he doesn’t have any experience in building, then most certainly, those schools were re-built by people who did.

Oh, I know it’s not disparaging, but it’s just kinda disappointing that people think that gay has a “look” or that you can always tell who is and who isn’t gay. It’s sort of reinforcing the whole idea that gay people are somehow visually distinct from straight people, which has been used in pretty shitty ways before.

I know this is just a joke, but I’m kinda disappointed in how the gay jokes came out for this. Men don’t get as many chances to experiment with fashion/clothing/style, and if they do, their masculinity is often called into question (as is their heterosexuality). There’s nothing wrong with not being a super-macho guy

I looked it up, because when my sister and I were diagnosed, it was called an auto-immune disorder, but you’re right! I learned something new today, so thanks!

I have Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, and I actually kind of liked the shout-out to autoimmune disorders. I feel like a lot of people aren’t too familiar with what they are, and they tend to be somewhat “invisible” disorders, so people don’t “see” them as often. You’d never guess anything was wrong with me just by seeing

Interestingly, they did make brown Skittles: chocolate ones! I don’t think they sold well (and they did not taste very good). I remember because that bag hung around my mom’s house for ages.

It’s garbage all the way down. Perhaps the clothing production part (assembly, etc.) was ethical, but was the creating of the textile ethical? What about the plants from which the fibers came? Were workers ethically treated and was the farm well-cared-for? It’s so hard to find the right answer.
