I recall that John Hawkes' character in Milagro writes specifically in horrendous purple prose, which worked pretty well to Carter's strengths.

The cookie dream one fucked with me deeply as a kid, mostly because of the cruelty of those damn dream cookies and their fucked-up, taunting song.

"Can you run? I think not."

Also one of the few scenes I have sat through in ANY movie, animated or live-action, where I had an actual visceral fight or flight response to what was on-screen. I was pushing myself back in my chair and everything. One of the few times 3D has really had an impact.

This was where my mind went as well. For a brief moment I actually believed they were going into that fire, and the only way I could see them pulling it off was by ending the movie with some sort of weird toy-reincarnation thing.

I was not captivated by that Ronaldo episode last bomb, but then Ronaldo gets on my last nerve, so yeah.

I think that was the first thing out of my mouth when it ended. I'm honestly surprised at how much they're getting away with.

I would be a lot sadder about Adventure Time's gradual slide into meh if Steven Universe wasn't the best-written show on TV right now, all jumping in to pick up the slack. Rebecca Sugar's got some serious chops.
