Virginia Beach is part of the Tidewater Area of Virginia and includes Norfolk, Portsmouth and Hampton Roads, and Newport News.  Numerous Army, Air Force, and Navy installations keep the area populated and gainfully employed year round, so decent restaurants should be easy to find.

Virginia Beach is a “year-round” city and not your normal rip-off resort town. Therefore, there is no excuse for restaurants of this ilk to exist. What you encountered is Outer Banks quality, with the exception of Tale of the Whale. (It has been several years since I’ve been there, so I hope they kept their standards.)

The absence of phone dial wheels turned me off.  The subwoofer killed it for me.  ND.

Moving to D.C., eh? I would strongly discourage a manual transmission.

They were shit right off of the assembly line, and I’m sure it hasn’t improved over the years. ND.

Just like the smell of napalm.

I’m still trying to figure out what Mazda had in mind with this car.  Was it supposed to be a “performance” car?  If so, why did they add weight with the retractable hard top?  It seems Mazda was throwing everything against the wall to see what would stick.

Not sure about Hyundai/Kia, but my GM products require the pressing of the lock button before pressing the start button on the fob.

2nd Gear: The fix isn’t broken. The disabling of remote start is a feature, not a bug.

Agree with your take on Kraftwerk’s Autobahn.  The longer version is far better, especially with good headphones and hash.

The earlier Omni had the Volkswagen engine, not the 2.2L, although the transverse Torqueflite was the same and was the most bulletproof part of the Aries. The other parts you mention were of similar design, but different parts altogether and did not interchange because the K car was much heavier. Omni parts were

Occasionally, I will see an Omni/Horizon and a Pinto. There’s a guy around my town who is still driving a Chevy Citation. The bottom half of it, fenders and doors, have rusted away completely.

From the number of them I have seen on the streets in the last... oh...  3 years (zero), I would have to disagree with that statement.

This car will be just like a used runabout I once owned.  For every hour I had it on the water, I would spend 3 hours on repairs and maintenance.  That may explain the “get this out of my garage now” price.

During the early-mid Eighties I worked a “summer job” at the parts department of a Dodge dealership. The majority of ordered parts coming in were for K-car warranty work, even though they have been in production for at least 3 years. Interestingly, there was no set pattern to the parts coming in. They were for

Chrysler products from this era were total pieces of shit.  Ask me how I know.  ND.

Southside Virginia:  Ford F-150/250.  Lifted, of course.

I think the Renegade is a reskinned 500X. Hey! Maybe older 500X’s are under $5K!

Too bad Fiat didn’t import the Panda when they started importing the 500. The older of the model years may be selling for around $5k by now.

Make mine whorehouse red.
