So what you are all saying is that the modifications made to this Jag... make you see red?

That is on the Baker to Vegas route of the Law Enforcement Relay Race.  The area is desolate.

Oh boy are you about to be disappointed. Not only have I now written about counterweights, but I’ve also written about blue anodized wheel cylinders:

His car soured me on VW automatics. I’m a little gun-shy about the DSG in the newest models. I have two GTIs...one an MK5 and the other an MK6, both manuals and they have been flawless.

Was it the 5 speed tiptronic? My friend has an 03 GTI with that garbage of a transmission. First trans refused to shift out of first. Replaced the solenoids. Then it was fine for a couple months. The it wouldn’t shift into drive at all. You could hear the solenoids clicking away. Replaced the TCU and the trans was

In defense of that format though, this has always been the case. Most of the early years, a reasonably large number of Jalopnik commenters later went on to do their own automotive journalism things. The commentariat here is extremely well versed in all things automotive. It’s not unusual to find that the most

People try to drive us down.

You’re forgetting that these people will have to learn yet another rule of the road with roundabouts. Here in Ohio, people still don’t understand how to use them properly a decade or more of them being in use. They’re getting better, but it’s still a crapshoot as to whether someone will slam on the brakes or floor it

Had one in a work van at a job years ago delivering welding equipment. That engine just took everything I gave it. Same with the Ranger we had with the 2.3 4 Cyl. Ford could make some engines that weren’t all that impressive, but could take hard work, and work a long, long time. I miss the simplicity of those.

Beat me to it. 22R was a great 4 banger

I will see your “simple and bulletproof” Toyota engine, and raise you the 22R.

This really came to my attention 10-15 years ago, when there was a sudden fad among Southern California power-sports bros for, pretty specifically, an F250 jacked up about a foot in the air so as to clear big off-road tires on expensive looking rims. On weekends you’d see these things going to or coming back from the

you know it

Came here to say this. Good tires. Proper tires for the season. And well maintained brakes.

Totally—this is a really underappreciated thing.

Also, their lifespan was less than 1/2 of modern tires. It’s not far off to say that some modern oil change intervals might be longer than the life of an old bias ply tire!

When one must master of the roads in a land yacht, there is but one choice... The Buick Roadmaster.

The Roadmaster, everybody and all their things!  Rear air suspension, LT1 goodness!
