I'm going against my best judgement! NP. This thing looks like it has been done reasonably well aside from the bar top in back. Talk him down to $7k and its a great deal for a summer runabout.

"Did it do anything new? Yes.
Yes, those are excellent points but...they built 21+ million Beetles not counting any of the derivitives and are still building the type 2 van in Brazil (water cooled now). The Beetle is much more of an icon than the other 2.
Ah, the letter cars! Gotta love em.
The 2.5 litre lump of an engine didn't help either! Had an '87 Tortoise. 2.5 automatic and it never got better than 20 mpg. Worst thing that I've ever owned. Needed more repairs than any car I had owned prior to it. Thank God for extended warranties.
The Corvair had interesting variants, too: Coupe, sedan, wagon, convertible, cargo van, passenger van and pickups all built off the same platform. The Corvair was a great suggestion that I heartily agree with!
Beat the Mustang to market by 2 weeks but the segment was named after the Mustang. The pony car lives on instead of the fish car.
Regarding Palm trees in the pictures. These ads are like the Las Vegas Craigslist ads with lush lawns and beautiful forests behind the 2005 Volvo for $2500 listings. I love to flag scam ads.
Interesting choice! A platform that begat so many other models. Sporty cars (Laser and Daytona), boring cars (Reliant), small cars (Shadow and Sundance), minivans (Voyager), Luxury cars (E-Class) and convertibles (400). It saved the company.
You cannot legally buy a car in Nevada from a private party if it has a salvage title. It has to be sold to a junkyard or re-titled as rebuilt prior to selling. Therefore, since I live in Nevada, I have to call CP. Personnaly, the car is a bit overpriced even if it had a clear title.
I have been a fan of odd things for my entire life. Look at my avatar/screen name. I always felt an affinty for the Corvair. The car is known for being a failure. It was unique. It had soul. It had panache. It was expensive to manufacture. It had Ralph Nader. I have never had the luxury of owning a running…
Had me chuckling for the first minute or so. Wore on me after a that. Started cute, though.
I was lucky when I was in Wmass. The winters were not as bad as they've been in the last 15 years. I think I got stuck once in 10 years. A snow drift ate my Pinto.
Check out my posting in OPPO. I think I guessed pretty well!
A very nice "somebody else's project" that turned out for the better. NP
Very attractive car. I can see the influence of Ford's product line in it. Or is the product line influenced by this wonderful car?
All of them. I remember loving all the Herbie movies (except Herbie Goes Bananas), all my Matchbox cars, all my Hot Wheels, Tootsie Toys, Tonka trucks, HO train sets.
79 - 81 Trans Am. First smoke tinted taillights? Maybe?
