I may as well throw my hat in the ring here. I fix macs for a living, in and out of warranty, for Apple and for the customers, so I'm not just pulling speculation out of thin air, I'm speaking from experience, and reading some of the above FUD really gives me a twitch.

The mosquitos aren't TRYING to make you itch. That itch is created on purpose by your body, as a defense mechanism. If mosquito bites weren't so annoying, people wouldn't be so bothered to keep them away, and there'd be a lot more of them around as a result, and we'd have a lot more diseases getting spread by them.

>>. How do we know that if Hitler had been killed, someone else, possibly even WORSE, would not have risen to power?

>>The first reason anyone would build an aircraft carrier is to prevent a war.

I spent last weekend 130 feet off the ground for over 10 hours in 50mph winds working on a water tower. Once you get more than ~15 feet off the ground it doesn't get much more dangerous, you're going to be badly injured or dead if you fall whether you're 30 or 300 feet off the ground, one just leaves a bigger stain

what a beautifully colorful bird that is!

lithium and cadmium cannot be legally sent to a landfill. yes that stuff gets recycled. That's part of the reason rechargeable batteries have gotten a lot cheaper lately - while they continue to dig the stuff up out of the ground, there's a large new source of material in the form of material recovered from

well I'm sure he had a blast! And those lamps, have you seen them? They're the BOMB!

>>But...to get cable internet, aren't you required to subscribe to cable tv?

don't forget the crushing pressure too. There's a reason probes don't survive long on venus. In the case of making a lander for venus, getting TO the planet really is only half the battle.

This sounds like basic troubleshooting really. You don't always have enough information during an investigation to determine the cause of a problem. There are two proper responses to make in this situation:

>>So what if you use a 4-digit code set to wipe the phone after 10 bad attempts? Is their cracking software so good that it gets it right in the first 10 times?

Nicotine is a very addictive drug. Smokers are drug-using addicts. This isn't a reality they like to accept. And too many of them believe they're entitled to do their drugs wherever they want to. Unfortunately, this particular drug is legal (if you're of age) and that just encourages their belief to do whatever

Small-draw items (100mA or less, typically) are "dumb" power, they will just draw as much power as they want. External speakers, flash drives, keyboards, etc. Current (mA) is supplied ON DEMAND, so if the device wants 250mA, it gets it, unless the pack doesn't have the capacity, in which case the pack overheats

If someone asked me what the worst possible way to drop their ipad was, I'd say "face down, level with the ground, onto flat ground. (or ground with a pea-size pebble right in the middle)". If they asked me what the next worst way to drop it was, I'd say "same thing, except face-up level with the flat surface you're

I think a lot of you are missing the point of a search warrant. They are granted when you convince a judge that you already have enough evidence to prove a crime, for the purpose of gathering additional evidence to your case and to gather evidence of other related crimes they suspect but lack sufficient evidence to

>> this is a regular spot/route for cruise ships. In this case, the captain took the boat closer to land than he should have or is customary.

If you tried to shoot it OUT the front passenger window, you'd send an unbelted driver OUT his window, down OR up. Trying to launch a rocket from inside an enclosed ANYTHING is stupid.
