For some reason Cadillac loves to jump from V6 to supercharged V8, leaving a big hole for a NA V8, even though they have access to some great ones.

They do. They offer 6.2 and 7.3 L gasoline engines and a 6.7L diesel.
Another political piece on what used to be a great car site. No matter what your politics are this used to be a place people could come together and read about cars. Now most articles are divisive clickbait. Erin you seem to miss the point of this site and aren't welcome here.
Just want to, YET again, point out that this is an arithmetic average and as such, is subject to distortion by the relatively small volume of expensive cars.
The median new-car price, that is to say, the price at which 50% of new cars are less expensive than and 50% are more expensive than, is a much more realistic…
If you need an SUV, buy a minivan.
Not just a ton of station wagons out there these days.
They are useless? My family’s CUV performs the duties that we need it for. Is it fun to drive? Not really, but I still prefer it to a sedan or wagon for everyday driving and family needs. I appreciate the easier ingress/egress, as well as the additional cargo space vs a sedan.
Definitely agree there. I still don’t understand this relentless push away from naturally aspirated v6s in favor of pint-sized turbos. It’s even hitting off-roaders now. Supposedly they are doing this to get better MPG for the CAFE rules but in practice, the gains seem to be marginal if any and in real world use,…
It’s like when you see your ex happier with someone else.
Pro: lower cost, possibly buy it outright.
Con: higher unexpected maintenance costs.
Car payments for a vehicle under warranty are predictable and considered more safe, financially speaking, than a cheaper car that may have a power-steering pump fail unexpectedly or some other expensive to replace part. Basically,…
I support V10 in everything
Now hear me out: Volkswagen Jetta TDI.
It’s all about the setup. While engines are SAE corrected, providing ideal conditions to the engine during power verification will give it a big number that’s not a reflection of what you’ll see say....on a racetrack in July.
“ companies can and do decide to take a profit hit in order to keep prices down”
“It’s almost all a function of supply and demand, a force more powerful than both the Illuminati and the presidential administration combined.”
In a free market, using open and honest practices to maximize profit is a company’s job, as the author points out. To an Exxon shareholder, it’s an expectation. Considering supply and demand can result in higher profit, and most corporations aren’t engaged in deceptive practices, price gouging, etc. (monitored by…
Nope.
E85 gets worse mileage.
Direct sales only just means everyone gets screwed, not just the impatient/stupid.
