This is an excellent take! I sincerely hope that they do read these comments and take them as constructive criticism. 

Ditto - I too travel for a living and at this point the only major difference pretty much everywhere is you still have to wear a mask in airports and airplanes. Everywhere else? If there is a mandate, it’s being mostly ignored other than by the paranoid.

Blaming presidents (or giving them credit) for things out of their control has a long history before Obama.

Afghanistan didn’t have nuclear weapons, that is why we were more active post 9/11. If the Taliban had a nuclear arsenal, then you can bet there would be a lot more uncomfortable shuffling. Also we were in NATO, and Ukraine isn’t.

I get the idea of being a mostly back end EIC, but Patrick didn’t write a ton and you still felt his presence all over the site. There was tons of communication from all of the editors here on what was going on, and I never got that from Jalopnik under Rory

It was sad to see Rory head out of here on such a down note. Hopefully they can find and get a new EIC on board pretty quickly, and they can find someone who is really passionate to revive things around here. 

Not everything is terrible or a crisis, not every article calls for snark, and not everything is getting worse all the time.

I also don’t think people were actually expecting a large scale war in Europe. 

Based on very online people? No. Based on regular people? Yeah. They’ll be more likely to travel if they don’t have to deal with a mask as much.

Yup, every time gas just gets expensive I just move closer to everything and get a job that I can walk to.
