I’m about as far left as it gets in the US, and even I’m pretty horrified. It’s a huge red flag and way too similar to how US police target “undesirables” with civil asset forfeiture.

Man, if only we had clear cut case studies of emergency authorizations being used to take civil liberties away permanently...

Yeah, I was NOT a fan of the protests at all, and I think they were mostly far right nut jobs, but I do NOT think stealing their stuff is the way to go.
If they want to charge the protestors who broke laws, and then fine them, whatever.
But straight up taking it before any trials?

Yeah, my thoughts exactly. This could be a really bad precedent if enforced. Fuck them, but I don’t think this is the way to go.

I think if the party and cause affiliations were reversed, people would be screaming in protest.

I come to this website multiple times per week. Almost every time I am presented with some shit take by an out of touch NYC goober and yet I keep coming back. Its like an abusive relationship.
