You really misinterpreted the election. The mood was massively anti-establishment. Trump won because he ran to the left of Hillary on economic issues. They ignored the racism and voted for what they thought would be a more populist economic plan

You do realize that the individual parts of his platform were massively popular with people from all parties, right?

You do realize his net favorability is at +20, yes? That he beat Trump by an average of +15 in the polls right? What opposition research could the GOP have launched against Sanders? They couldn't even stop Donald Trump
