I won’t make that assumption without knowing more facts. The kids weren’t even born when he was adopted. Maybe he never adapted to their addition to the family and the ways in which that changed the overall dynamic.

I am not an expert, so I’m not comfortable giving advice. That being said, your pediatric allergist did give you antihistamines to use, but by your own admission you discontinued them. Was the tapering off your idea or your doctor’s? Did she specifically test for cat allergies? You also don’t say if the antihistamines…

I appreciate your concern, but I don’t think you should worry. I’ve seen this in other cats. He’s just expressing pleasure at the sensation of a butt rub. Also, our vetting process is pretty thorough.

I’m pretty sure he has limited sight in that eye, but it doesn’t affect him in any way. He has welcomed every cat into his room with open paws, helping them to relax and overcome their fears. He’s kind of like a mentor cat. I’d take him in a heartbeat if I could.

Yeah, I know of other kitties who needed IV fluids and were calmly accepting. Trixie, being ornery and of foul temper, was a real question mark. Fortunately, her appetite trumps all other reflex responses lol.
