I think maybe you should have tried 15 seconds, because:
I’m not sure he’s being racist so much as he’s saying that people should stop making such a big deal out of things. He’s from the generation that didn’t talk about feelings, and didn’t discuss social issues like this. They “kept it quiet” for the sake of propriety.
Have you seen what really goes in at Trump Rallies? They totally own their racism.
He was married to a black woman, so unless he was living out some weird slaver fantasy, he’s not a conventional racist. I’d agree that he doesn’t “get” institutional racism, but he’s...well...complicated. I just can’t wrap my head around this guy. Sometimes he seems racist, sometimes not. I think he’s probably decent…
yeah this is one of those rare times I don’t know what the police could have done. They tried reasoning with her for hours it seems.
I’m pretty sure they do have footage of her with the shotgun — they said the social media content is not deleted and she fired several rounds. Also, I can’t imagine the police waiting out a seven hour standoff if she didn’t have a gun.
I specifically like the idea that it’s called out as being like a disability. Clearly, PTSD is not the normal human state of mind, and this sort of thing is more like an illness. That said, with the number of potential triggers being staggering, it really should be on the students to anonymously provide this…
I’m not defending the prosecutor, I swear, but I’m guessing that rape would have been difficult to prove. So it was either plea him to some other crime or risk him walking free.
Rape charges are always a gamble for the prosecution? Maybe that’s why they were willing to pursue the plea bargain? I dunno, I’m trying to think optimistically.
