No offense taken. I’ll reach out to Andrew Smith, our head of design, and we’ll put in a good word.
Yes. Younger customers, particularly Millennials, cannot certainly recall even having seen these cars and their grandparents were already driving German cars. Yet it is true that sportiness is almost a must to reach out to younger customers, and it’s true that all competitors move in this direction.
Back to square one, we are not at war. :) We don’t build cars to fight certain competitors. The CT6 isn’t going “against” any competitor, it is a unique offer that combines luxury and roominess of a large luxe car with the handling of a mid-size car. No other can cope.
The move to New York has given us a dedicated Cadillac team solely focused on the brand. Breezing it all day long and benefitting from the environment only NY offers: young, cosmopolitan, international. It’s challenging to live there but it never stands still. That’s the spirit I want in the brand.
Dare greatly, have courage, and drive what turns you on. Your neighbors will change their perspective when they see a young person in a Cadillac.
Look at the brands you just mentioned. Their product portfolio has even more holes than ours. We want to fill the holes and extend the portfolio. That means we need to give the cars proper mental places, and hierarchy is still best executed with a number. It’s not a German invention, they just tend to adhere better.
Cadillac will stay in Europe. On the contrary, we want to grow in Europe. Hang in there, we will get to you! Our cars are geared toward people who want driving characteristics. We cannot expect prices to stay where they were in the past, but the product to get better and better.
I cannot reveal anything about future cars that are years out. I can only say what we said in the past: we developed the Elmiraj to develop the passion and emotion of the brand. I can’t deny the appeal, but timing is everything. Elmiraj on the road today would have such a price tag so far from the current portfolio…
Design is a matter of taste and it’s entirely subjective. I agree the direction of our styling may not be appealing for everyone, but I know many of our customers want the distinction and have a car that IS a face in the crowd.
I simply dislike the term “flagship.” That reminds me of war, and we are not on our way to a war. The war is over.
Hello everyone! It’s great to be back on Jalopnik. I really enjoyed my first live chat and can’t wait to continue today.
