Who are you to say what other people’s interests are, or that they should vote in those interests?

Billionaires vote for Democrats all the time, when those Democrats want to raise taxes. Is that in the billionaires’ interests? Maybe they have higher values than just their pocketbook bottom line.

Not to defend Purdue or anything, but $450m is not a “drop in the bucket” for a company with $3b revenue. Revenue <> profit.

We can despise drug-pushing pharmaceutical corporations without being innumerate.

I used to think it was a mark of sophistication, to be willing to sit through movies like this. But now I tend to think that it’s merely the mark of callow privilege. Who would willingly subject themselves to extreme emotional distress on purpose? Someone who hasn’t experienced it in real life, that’s who.
