Yes, it’s not so unbelievably thin as to give Joel no plausible justifications. That’s rather the point. Everything has something you could consider to be a justification. And if you’re eager to find each and every justification for each increasingly heinous act, guess what, at the end of that road, you’re a monster!

Wow, well I guess we know where you fall on the “was Joel kind of a monster?” question. Kind of thought that was as open and shut of a question as like, are you supposed to root for Tyler Durden, but then a lot of people get that one wrong too!

Why do you care so much? Like, if someone made a list of the top 10 movies and I didn’t agree, I wouldn’t yell at them about it.

My “best of all time” list would contain shit like Dynamite Headdy and Space Station Silicon Valley while also containing very few of the last decade’s “Game of the Year” candidates.

I can’t stand Zelda games. It’s always been one of the franchises where I am having the least fun. Breath Of The Wild is the one I had the most fun in — right up to where I got into the grind of having to replace my weapons by fighting an enemy that would destroy even more of my weapons — and I never played it again.

This was easily the biggest departure in terms of Joel’s character and I think it worked pretty well. In game Joel is consistently stoic, strong and physically capable, after all he has to do all the videogame stuff. Having him be more outwardly emotional about what he’s feeling as opposed to how the game handles it

That’s a great read of her character. I don’t necessarily agree(yet), but I can totally see the direction a character like that can get them on this show.

Just want to give a shoutout to Melanie Lynskey, who’s been a fixture in some of my favorite media since Heavenly Creatures in 1994.

That’s an excellent observation. After reading that I totally agree. Thanks for that.

Kathleen, she gives off an attitude of almost naive innocence, which clashes so intensely with the ruthlessness of her actions.

I’m with you on this. 48, wife and three kids but I loved this episode. It made me want to care (even) more about the people I love.

This is a full-fledged recap. Meanwhile, we had Kenneth’s very different (and IMO great) commentary piece about how this episode takes on greater meaning when viewed in the context of a post-apocalypse where queer history has largely been forgotten. Then there was one that summed up the writers talking about why they

This episode is the perfect example of what an adaptation should be. it doesn’t need to be 1 for 1 and shouldn’t be. Take what works, fix what doesn’t, and take risks when you think you have something really good.

Reading all of the hate online about this episode really makes me cringe. I thought it was the best one of the series so far, and I’m a 49-year-old white married cis male that thinks the relationship between Bill and Frank over this “long long time” absolutely brought the story even further. The performances were

This comment section definitely passes the vibe check, unlike some of the comments online (check out The Last of Us’s official social media accounts). Some people really think showing a gay relationship with light kissing and touching is “woke” and “pushing an agenda”? GTFO. As a straight guy, I still can’t believe

I’m not about to argue with anyone about being Black seeing as I myself am not, but as someone who has lived in NYC my whole life branding is everything in this city. Whether you’re a white girl in the Upper West Side with a fancy new Louis-Vuitton or a queer guy hobnobbing in a Sephora on Fifth Avenue or, yes, a

It was the worst episode.

How the hell is everyone on this show so STUPID? How does LaMarr not realize that humping a statue might be a bad way to avoid attracting attention? I know LaMarr is stupid, but he’s still a trained military officer!

Why the hell would Alara intentionally turn around to face the cashier when she knows she has an alien

I was wandering why the ship didn’t just hack the master feed and dump 10 million upvotes on him as soon as they learned the problem. OTOH, I did like that they answered Lysella’s question of how they could do that with “spaceship, duh”.
