Off-roading would be the only time you “need” to turn it off, but I’m talking about wanting it off for normal driving as a default. I’ve owned CJ and a TJ, and dislike the drift away from what they once were, for the almighty $. These could easily be $20k capable 4x4s if they weren’t preengineered for the majority of

My assumption is that you are correct, and it has to default to on for EPA numbers. I agree a push towards regulation in challenging higher efficiency standards is a good thing over time, but I just am not a fan of start stop. I’d honestly prefer a hybrid (even as sacrilegious as it would be in a wrangler)but at least

We can also turn off the lights, and the radio.

With the volume of Jeeps they sell that never are put into 4wheel drive, I agree with you. Sad, but true.

I appreciate the response, and I had heard of the defeat, but wanted it to be permenantly defeated. My guess/hope is that it will be listed as a “feature” on higher level trims or engines as some other manufacturers have done and there may be some intermediate trim level with no keyless start or auto stop/start

I’ll buy whichever one I can permanently disable the start-stop technology which is rumored to be standard.

Let’s not make this too complicated.

Blacked out badges, to match the wheels.

Surprisingly, I really like the looks of this car. Seems to have a lot of the Volvo profile and partial front end that I like, but with a better Caboose!

Unfortunately, yes. However I didn’t notice it until after this post! I thought it was a change in the wrong direction.

I think most everything looks to be a progression of the classic Wrangler lines.

Most all GMs kill the AC at wide open throttle that I know of. The engine shouldn’t need any more cooling that the normal cooling system. You want the engine at a standard temp, a cooler engine than normal isnt an advantage for performance unless it’s overheating.

You are correct. Ford patented an indirect system for the Ford Lightning, but pulled it at final production. It chilled a heat transfer fluid, water I think, that could be transferred for a small chilled air boost, then took a short time period to recover while chilling the fluid.

While I admire unique multifaceted approaches to improving capability, this seems overly complex and perhaps with other consequences.

I have lived in TX where I saw that often, but even now in the southeast US, I see them heading your way. Vans/trucks/ towing vans/trucks, towing/filled with parts of other vans and trucks. Many commodity vehicles are getting exported, not just to MX, but internationally as well.

I can’t quantify this at the moment, but I also believe that the increased market and efficiency of autodismantlers, increasing their inventory and and the growing tendency of insurance companies to total vehicles, has also diverted many vehicles away from used car lots and to body shops, replacing the “new” stamped

Quick is a synonym for “fast, swiftly, breakneck, rapidly”. I don’t think a v6 accord is quick, unless you’re comparing it to a minivan, so again, it’s all relative.

Ummm...it’s all relative. Would you prefer another adjective? Saying something is quick isn’t to your satisfaction? How about, “This should put it in the 11s for a 1/4, which is quicker than a knife fight in a phone booth, for a “street” car on pump gas.

Yeah, I was a little perplexed by that too “8.15 best” also. Maybe 812 is the HP or torque.

Again, they are posting 7.57 in the heads up display, which I assume is an 1/8 mile speed. This should put it in the 11s for a 1/4, which is quick for a “street” car on pump gas.
