I’d equate off-roading to gymnastics, or at least my puny understanding of such. A strong, but compact gymnast, will out-perform a competition weightlifter. They are built for different things.

Not only does this look like a hack, it also looks to entirely eliminate the utility, because now the rear hatch cannot open. Some one charging this much for a modification, you’d expect them to custom reinforce a hinge to side swing this out, but you’d also expect a real top, frame and watertight top latch.
