Oh believe me, I am a huge proponent of doing things right the first time. But when you’re on a time crunch with the nastiest garbage project and get paid to write about these misfortunes...well I can’t hate on making a go of it.

Surely just liking these frankly joyous things doesn’t automatically make you a troglodyte asshole though.

Taking half-assed bullshit cars on roadtrips they should never be even considered for is a god damn American tradition. Reliable and safe are synonyms for BO-RING. Roll the dice once in a while, it’s good for you.

I always wondered though- why bother with a V at all? Why not just go straight six at that point? Packaging? Are there any straight six transversely mounted engines?

It’s good, really good even. They’ve actually managed to improve the production and camera work, which I didn’t think was possible. But the chemistry the original three had just isn’t there yet and I’m not sure it ever will be...their personalities (at least on TV) aren’t developed to the point Clarkson (loud,

Everyone (including myself) loves to give you shit for this project, but props for getting it going and actually undertaking this epic roadtrip in an epic shitbox. True Jalop spirit.

That’s nice of the Marlins to suggest an activity that isn’t watching the Marlins.

I’ve got a GMT800 and it’s been fantastically reliable- only major repair since I’ve owned it has been a new throttle body and wiring. Next up is the intake manifold gasket...I’ll probably do the knock sensors at the same time.

What we NEED is for people to pay attention. This is a “solution” to a problem that already has a solution.

Does this really measure reliability though? There’s no mention of major repairs or engine/tranny replacements. Anything can run for 200k miles if you throw enough money at it. Well anything except a Fiat anyway.

..you’ve never been to Vancouver have you.

I feel like I could be the “pull the old tire away from the car” guy.

Disenchanted VW owners might look at the Equinox and see it as a replacement for their TDI wagon buyback, it seems like between this and the new diesel Cruze they’re trying to effectively take the place of VW in that segment.

Uh, the answer to V6 sedan under 30 grand is always Accord.

You just ask them to climb in!

You see this in Vancouver quite a lot...I just ran over whatever was there in my old truck #beaterlife
