Even though I don't live there anymore, I'm French and as far as movies are concerned it's pretty great. I think it's the only country where all of Ferrara's features have been distributed (in the case of Go-Go Tales it took a few years but it still happened), and mostly financed too (as is the case for quite a few

With that analogy, Sam Taylor-Wood was the equivalent of Kershner here, the next ones will be Attack of the Clones with James doing what she wants.

And yet he never really stopped working, he's done a movie every three or four years since 1998, with his next one already completed and screened (not counting some documentaries). That's still a fairly decent pace (not that different from Cronenberg actually).
The problem is more that his movies have a harder time

Only 12.

They may not be that different movies in the end, but it's almost 20 minutes of cuts (UK DVD runs 125 minutes); it's fairly significant, and if a Weinstein was involved everyone would be complaining that it's a scandal.

Finally people are seeing the inherent justice of the Cultural Revolution!

He's some Kanye West protégé.

What does that even mean?

I'll probably end up catching them at some point, but I'm not in a rush.

That's just as bad.
One should be a lot guiltier of deriving any sort of pleasure from movies with serious and depressing subjects; at least the F&F are all about pleasure and they're doing it right.

Nothing ironic about it, these really are amazing (only seen 5 and 6, I understand I'm not missing out).

He's objectively wrong in his prediction, but he really is right, that these movies aren't nominated are just one of the many proofs of the irrelevance of the Academy.

I know you're mocking when you describe "a movie featuring cars parachuting out of an airplane and then getting shot by a bus", but I'd rather watch that than pretty much any best picture winners.

I'm confused, are you against boobs and leisure time?

His first (I think the English title was Whatever) was very good and short too. After that he got a bit repetitive and boring.

As opposed to what? There is a lot available, even the subscription can be considered worth it.
Personally I can do without, I still buy CDs and already barely find the time to properly listen to them, but it's an easy and relatively cheap way to be able to listen to a lot.
And the playlists are very useful for parties.

I've had very good Chilean ones too. And this Mr Sweatshirt has good taste.

I guess it's what you'd call a baked potato (choice fillings here tend to be tuna and cheese, baked beans, or chili). One of the plot points has him buying a food truck to sell them.

Little is made of him being American (besides his not knowing what jacket potatoes are), it's a lot more about him being a hippie completely disconnected from modern society, but in touch with his inner self and showing everyone that they shouldn't be so uptight.

You shouldn't complain, average is better than 50% of who I review.
