@wjbean: You're right about that, but it's not as though Linux users have a choice, after all those driver issues don't fix themselves.

The best part about Windows updates is how they almost always need reboots, and they'll reboot your machine for you even if you're running a bunch of stuff at the time.

@MazdaMania: iTunes is tiny compared to that massive bloatware Windows Update tries to get me to install, Windows Live Essentials.

With Apple's dominant market position in iTunes, there's no way they'll do anything more than the slightest amount necessary to remain competitive, meaning a Zune-type service is probably inevitable but years away.

Somehow, without even reading the comments, I'm going to go out on a limb and guess the results don't impress everyone.

@Evning Kirk: Light Peak isn't backward compatible with USB because it isn't built off the USB standard, the communications protocols are different. Light Peak isn't forward compatible with USB because no USB version can come close to handling Light Peak's 40Gb/s total throughput (2 bidirectional 10Gb/s channels).

@bombastinator: I don't play many games but it also ran MW2 and BC2 with similar performance (in Windows).

@JimmyBanks: Your source for laptop reliability figures is a company that sells laptop warranties. Any chance they're inflating figures, especially for the more expensive machines like Thinkpads and MacBooks, to bring them more revenue?

@Xenocide: 3) Spinning discs are 20th century technology.

@bombastinator: I can run WoW with full details at 1920x1200 capped at 60fps on my MBP, I really think that's more than adequate for almost anyone.

@JimmyBanks: So it's faster, more reliable, has 50% more battery life AND it's $400 cheaper?
