There are certainly a great many movies that play just as well with a small audience, even an audience of one. (I’m not sure that the communal viewing experience would add anything to Diary of a Country Priest, for starters.) But moments like this are what I miss about movie theaters:

Good. I refuse to accept that streaming is the only way we’ll watch movies in the future. Not everyone has absurd home sound systems, and not everyone lives alone--never underestimate the appeal of getting out of the house for a while.

Now playing

I mean, that’s schway and all, but are they Getting Goofy?

Mel: What are the chances, us always running into each other?

Why doesn’t Murray just call a band meeting and take attendance?

Everybody online shits on the Oscars so hard it makes me an Oscars defender simply because of the over the top nature of everyone’s complaints.

To paraphrase Dewey Cox’s father, ‘Wrong ABC 80s show died!’.

At some point I was surprised how much I was enjoying American Housewife, because it was rather insufferable when it began, but it’s been mostly running on fumes for the last couple years. I wish it got a proper finale though. It’s always an unpleasant feeling when you watch something for five years and then it’s just

Oh man, I loved Mixed-ish. It was a cute light-hearted version of Black-ish, and I liked it better too 😢

Housewife was totally out of steam at this point, as much as I like Mixon and Bader; it just became stale in spite of, or because of, the minor retoolings and cast departures. The Village People finally do something interesting - writing a letter to a youthful male musician - and DON’T start it by writing, “Young man - “

Agreed, she came up with some fun stuff during the second season.

Hopefully Jordan Schlansky will continue to do various tasks and duties.

When I saw the theme change, it was just disappointment. The last episode was a nice surprise. They even brought back the Benton punch.

Terrazano’s.

Like Freaks and Geeks, Square Pegs was way ahead of its time. I read she wanted an all female writing team, in 1982, but CBS forced a token man in there. She was brilliant.

Ah okay yeah. I disliked both Allen Gregory and Bordertown and stopped both after just two episodes. Should have never got past the pitch meeting and I will agree with that. Imo Bordertown was worse cause at least Allen Gregory tried something a little different. Bordertown was copy paste family guy with racism and

For what it’s worth, she was my cousin (on her mother’s side), and while I never got to know her well, in the interactions we did have she was always extremely sweet and gracious. I’ll miss her both as a person and as one of the funniest actresses I’ve ever seen.
