In fairness to the Simpsons...the AV Club doesn’t really cover ANYTHING, anymore.

“Punish, punish, punish, and, when it’s much too late, love.”
Hank now owns Strickland, taking it over after Buck’s whoring and other vices did the old guy in. Bobby is involved in internet and cable installation and speaks as reverently about it as his life’s mission statement as Hank does about propane. Hank consoles himself aloud that he’s happy Bobby has found his calling…
I was 7 when this movie came out and watched Brady Bunch episodes on Nick at Nite so I was pretty much unable to tell the difference between this movie and the actual Bradys.
The episodes were better on rewatch than I remember enjoying them the first time (probably because I was sick and alone). It’s really a fantastic reboot that understands what made original Animaniacs so great. Its main MO is to be a critique of Hollywood and this continues here.
It was a good episode; very touching. The show has been strong of late, which makes this site’s decision to discontinue coverage even more absurd.
Just going to say that while I’m ensuring he knows canon, my 8yo loves current Simpsons too and I’m seeing it anew through his eyes. It’s not all great, but it’s not all terrible either.
I reckon that’s the way to go. If everyone halved their consumption, that’s the same as half the population going veggie.
The frustrating thing about Scorsese on this topic is the relative lack of historical context it has. Cheap “entertainment” (as opposed to “art”) has always been pumped out by the bucketloads, and Scorsese himself has had no trouble stepping outside of the established canon to champion directors who were considered…
I’m just pumped that Fortune Feimster is getting network teevee money
That’s the entire back half of KotH. People get very angry when you point it out. I love that show, but man, the last 5 or 6 seasons stop any real commentary on Hank. It’s always some cartoonish liberal shows up, people love him, Hank hates him, in the second act Hank starts to wonder if he’s wrong, and in the third…
I’m sure this joke’s been made already, but...
As a kid I never could stand A Pup Named Scooby Doo (or any of those kids adaptations from that time except Muppet Babies), but I’ll always appreciate Red Herring. I wish they’d bring the character back for modern SD series.
My pitch for the ending of the show is that the NYPD realizes they are in a PR crunch, and the only precinct that comes out looking clean is the 99. The NYPD tries to make Holt Chief of Police, but Holt, after seeing the corruption of the NYPD first hand, turns them down publicly. Terry has already arranged a new job…
Agreed that it should end soon and on its own terms, but I was shocked by how funny the latest season was considering the dip I felt in the one before it. Like, it’s never been bad, but I expected after Season 6 that it’d just steadily decline and instead it jumped right back up in 7, IMO.
Yeah that was my problem with the later seasons too. In the beginning the show is skewering Hank’s uptight sensibilities while in later seasons he’s the sole voice of reason against whatever silly progressive idea is ruining things around Arlen.
I recall the last few seasons having a few too many “Strawman Antagonist of the week introduces a cosmopolitan, big-city idea that creates problems only Hank can solve with Common Sense” episodes for my taste, but the character-focused episodes were still great (i.e., “Death Picks Cotton,” the episode where...well,…
That was dope as hell
