I’ve always been intrigued by TN, I know a lot of very hip people who come from there (and also Kentucky). Mostly Nashville because I love live music, but the idea of vast open lands and big cheap houses is quite appealing. As much as I love living near NYC, buying a house here will likely never be an option for me.

Funny you mention Asheville - it’s one of the first places I thought of. I’ve heard a lot of great things about that city and it’s supposed to be a pretty progressive area.

I come from Pennsylvania (Philly area) and I was shocked. My mother and sister, who still live there, were too, but they also saw a significant amount of Trump signs on laws around their neighborhood (my mother lives in a mostly-white blue-collar area just outside Philly, a part which actually did go blue).

AND Utah has some serious natural beauty, so that’s a bonus!
