They filed for divorce in 2023.
You... aren't married, are you.
According to one interview that I saw (maybe on Seth Meyers?), Isla said that it was Baron-Cohen that convinced her that she should do comedy, so we can at least thank him for that because she’s a natural.
Gotta say this kind of bums me out. As far as entertainer couples go, they seemed pretty sympatico.
I thought this was the story of Van Morrison’s ex-wife.
Azealia Banks, complaining about some shit she probably knows as much about as any of the rest of us... Who could have predicted this?!?!
Meanwhile, I have to ask: You work in the same field; where’s your country album where you shined a light on a part of our history too-long hidden and underappreciated, and elevated…
Eh, pre-release I found the detractors 10x more annoying for marrying (as is so often the case) misogyny and toxic, entitled fandom. No, the Target Lady did not “ruin your childhood” for starring in a movie with the same name. No, you don’t actually give a shit about Ghostbusters “lore”—the only people who actually…
No, there was one loud and shitty side proclaiming it as the worst movie ever before it came out, and then another group of people who were adamantly opposed to the idea of judging a movie that hadn’t been released yet based solely on the genderswap aspect. This other group wasn’t even really an opposing side, since…
She could have had it all. Unlimited Disney dollars, her own spin off show, merchandise, long lines at Cons, bigger and bigger roles. Instead she threw it away for a handful of shitty right wing movies nobody saw and a few pitiful Cons
Hell, it’s even simpler than that! Her employer reportedly told her to cut the shit - multiple times - and she decided that preferred pronouns and “this was just like the Nazis” were hills to die on.
It’s the echo chamber effect that keeps these folks from realizing there just aren’t enough bigots and assholes to support a career after you get fired from a Star Wars TV show.
I think part of it is for her and others like her is that she was getting all this praise from the very vocal minority(transphobes will not stop talking about being transphobes, look at JR Rowling who had made it her entire identity) and seems to have thought that they representing a lot more people than they were. So…
I love that her lawsuit stipulates that Disney has to hire her back and write her back into the show. Good luck with that lady.
It’s honestly like something out of The Twilight Zone, where she was so certain the extreme right wing fans would have her back that she could say all this stuff and still have a comfortable career, but then finds out they’ll never accept a big strong woman in their movies because it’s “woke.”
...and when she knows that her daughter’s pregnant, no less. These are her grand-maternal instincts.
“The lack of food in Caroline’s homes is such a great continuing detail for this cold, unloving mother.”
It’s also a weirdly consistent touch - she doesn’t have any food when Shiv and Roman visit way back in season 1, either. It’s always very, “Oh, right, children need that to live, don’t they?”
The lack of food in the refrigerator - after she had invited her family to visit - was such a great touch. She really doesn’t have any maternal instincts at all, and then we learned the main reason for the invitation was a pitch meeting for her toady husband’s friend.
Man, it was all so sad, wasn’t it? I mean, the ending was the only logical ending but damn.
