Not entirely though. I am a woman who never played with Barbies and I was there on opening day. It just looked *good*. The story, the actors, the director — I knew as soon as I heard “Closer to fine” in the trailer, it was going to have exactly the right sense of humour about itself. At this point it’s also a word of

They have a decent shot at Best Actress and Supporting Actor Oscar nominations. Might not win because of the academy’s bias against comedy, but they do love their critical darlings that also make a ton of money.

I mean, it’s not that hard. She’s basically freeing the nipple at every awards show.

I saw it today (I had the day off). I was laughing out loud…a lot.

In Wicked, if this is not too much of a spoiler, Galinda becomes Glinda. Part of her character’s journey and all that IIRC (I haven’t seen it in years).

I would include Cruel Summer, but WAP is a bop.

The last Christopher Nolan movie I’ve seen was Insomnia (and maybe one of the earlier Batmans? I can’t even remember). I’m not doing the doubleheader this weekend (just Barbie tomorrow), but the Barbenheimer press absolutely has made me pay more attention to Oppenheimer, and now I’m thinking of seeing it next week.

There actually are a lot more boomers on here than you’d think (no shade!). At one point Jezebel did a survey, and the results showed the writers are generally a lot younger than the readers. At least now. Maybe it wasn’t always that way. Signed, a late Gen-Xer who has been reading Jezebel since its inception.

Same. I’ve read it twice. Not wasting any more time on that word salad.

I’m not suggesting he abandoned his wife for another woman. I’m suggesting he wasn’t there for her on her deathbed.

I’m referring to a completely different part of the article:

The only thing that came to mind seeing those Lala pics is that she probably has help with those kids if she’s wearing those shoes. But even that feels judgy/projecting, coming from someone who rarely wears anything besides sneakers (and also has a preschooler).

I agree, but as a Gen-Xer, I don’t really see this as a generational issue. I suppose the mainstreaming of therapy means more young people who’ve never been in therapy have co-opted some of the terms, but weaponizing therapist-speak is hardly a new phenomenon.

I have my library app on my phone and no social media. I would rather read a book or scroll an entertainment website than read a two-year-old issue of People, which is what I would have done in the past (had I not remembered to bring a paperback).

It’s a fair point…except it’s barely reinterpreted as country (yes, I just listened to it). His voice has that country twang and I personally prefer the sparer production of the original, but mostly it’s pretty damned faithful. Which raises questions re: how we define genre, who gets to participate, etc., etc.

And a mom to boot.

I think that was an attempt to be funny.

Yeah, I can’t laugh at this or “get out the popcorn.”

Kanye has well-documented mental health issues. While they may have exacerbated his antisemitic views, they are not the source of them nor an excuse for them.

It’s that fucking “i” at the end. Storm Reid, for example, shows how badass an unconventional name can sound when you don’t try to cute it up.
