*hipster revival part of Detroit, not Brooklyn, which was gentrified maybe two decades ago at this point.

Yup — I also call bullshit on his claim to set up shop is less advantaged neighbourhoods. They research the fuck out of where to put new stores and they tend to put them in areas on the verge or in the process of gentrification, not actual Dollarama-esque food deserts. In fact, I’m pretty sure I’ve been to two of

Secret Canadians?

It’s right up there with bags of chips that look like they’ve never been sealed and the blue liquid used in period commercials.

Like, you see this in so many American movies and tv shows. I can understand (kind of) not taking your shoes off when you get indoors BUT ON YOUR BED?!?

What is it with Americans and sneakers on beds? SURELY YOU WORE THOSE SHOES OUTSIDE, ALYSSA.

The article isn’t suggesting that obesity isn’t a comorbidity. It’s saying that structural, systemic issues help lead to obesity. People love unhealthy food all over the world. Why is the situation worse in the U.S.? The CEO of Whole Foods is blaming the individual. Kelly is only pointing out that no one lives in a

He essentially has four last names. I would have gone for Cary, but that might be a painful daily reminder for her, I don’t know.

SIGN ME UP.

So the people protesting racial injustice are now jobless losers and not out-of-touch elites? I can’t keep up.

Good for Mandy Moore. She deserves happiness after that gaslighting cockweasel Ryan Adams.

It’s not even that much less scary from where we are, though: America sneezes, Canada catches a cold. And we tend to follow them politically. Reagan —> Mulroney, Clinton —> Chrétien, Bush —> Harper, Obama —> Trudeau.

This is why I subscribe and donate to Bitch. They pay their staff a living wage, pointing out that shitty pay in the not-for-profit and publishing sectors is a huge part of what keeps those sectors so white and upper class. Don’t know if they have a union or not (I know, I probably should), but I don’t think they’d

Honestly, I didn’t realize that Canada, where I live, *didnt’t* allow it, as I’ve seen so many commercials for them in my lifetime...on U.S. stations we get in Toronto, I guess?

Damn. I always feel bad when there are several nominees from the same movie in one category.

New Zealand is the other one? That surprises me, but I have some kind of utopian notion of the country in my mind because of their badass female leader.

Thank you for calling me out on that. (Sincerely!)

Sorry — the Mizrahi Jews I know have typically used the “ch” pronunciation, but many of them are also Israeli and in Hebrew it’s Mizrachi. It’s also possible they were just using the Ashkenazi pronunciation around me, an Ashkenazi Jew.

I don’t dislike Harron at all. However, I am sensitive to this site’s lack of nuance around the way Jews are discussed in general (I recognize the writers are not a monolith, but surely there is an editor). Like the time they referred to Biden and Sanders as two old white guys yelling at each other (or something to
