Me, reading Jezebel’s latest hot take:

9:20 pm EST: “brutal beating.”

6:15 pm. Post still incorrectly states that Rodney King was murdered in 1992. I’ve actually spoken to people Joan’s age IRL who didn’t realize he wasn’t murdered — because they’ve seen so much brutality online at this point, they just assumed that’s what happened. It’s completely fucked up — but it doesn’t excuse such

She’s the new Anne Hathaway, apparently, didncha know?

My jaw dropped.

Does not suit him at all (I think he had it pre-COVID? I can’t remember.)

And people are starring him. Sigh.

I’m aware. I was around in the nineties. I was almost certain that she had literally been papped with her girlfriend, but perhaps I am confusing her with another celebrity.

Haha, no problem. I kinda hate the beard, though — doesn’t suit him at all! Trudeau is an interesting one — by Canadian standards, he was the Obama/Biden/Clinton candidate (vs. Jagmeet Singh, leader of the NDP, our equivalent of the Bernie Sanders party...I’m oversimplifying, but you get the idea) and I didn’t vote

Probably. The writers at Jezebel are absolutely sympathetic to the cause.

Perfection. I love that he also kind or sounds like Bert from Sesame Street.

What is there to defend, though? You are allowed to be privately concerned about your property — I don’t own my apartment, but I imagine if I did and something happened to it, I would potentially be financially ruined — without Tweeting shit about the real heroes being people who pay their rent.

I didn’t realize she was ever “in”? (As in, awesome for her, but this is not news.)

It’s like they learned nothing from AOC (or the the Tea Party takeover of the Republican Party for that matter). It’s possible to primary shitty Democratic incumbents if there’s enough political will.

I think Joan and Harron are both trans, and the former definitely doesn’t come from an overly privileged background. It’s true that they are paid to be young and cynical, though, and the purity tests are both exhausting and, to this Canadian, very stereotypically American. As Rebecca Solnit always says, voting isn’t

That article showed promise, even if it also needed a good editor. I don’t know why Joan still gets assigned Dirt Bag...other than the cynical quest for maximum rage clickage.

I’m not sure Witherspoon is the right target here. Look at her first tweet:

I dislike the term “virtue signalling,” but otherwise generally agree. I don’t even think the writers truly believe half the shit they write. It’s unfortunate, as there are still some good nuggets in there, and we need a feminist pop culture + politically literate blog with a sense of humour.

Then primary the lame duck Democrats with more progressive ones, AOC-style. There’s no excuse not to vote. None. If that’s *all* you’re doing and patting yourself on the back like a good little liberal, that’s one thing, but not voting is exactly what they want you to do.

Maybe? I’m from Toronto and you’re giving me flashbacks, for sure. Also, This is How We Do It and Here Comes the Hotstepper (but both of those were  also huge in the U.S.).
