Wasn’t his real name always Duncan Jones? Like, on his birth certificate? I thought they gave him a stage name just like his dad had one. David Bowie was the real deal — not a pretentious asshole like Musk. I think they were just having fun with the press — and giving their kid a shot at anonymity should he choose it

Thank you!

Thank you! Honestly, both this website and CNN are part of the problem — designed for maximum engagement rather than inform, however well-intentioned individual writers and journalists may be. The election season in America is way too long and it’s a big moneymaker for all media — never mind the real world

So glad to hear that. That must have been terrifying — PP is a goddamn lifesaver.

Can’t remember what first brought me to the site — it’s been so long — other than that I’m the kind of kid who started reading Ms. at the library at age 12 and used to read Bust back in the early aughts (and I still subscribe to Bitch).

No problem! Real Purity really is the gold standard, though. However, it looks like I will barely leaving the house over the next few months (COVID + first baby due) so I guess it doesn’t matter that I only have two sticks of it left of it right now.

Yes! Real Purity for the warmer months, Leaves of Trees (Canadian brand) for the cooler ones. It’s hard to find here, though, and I’m going to have to pay an arm and a leg to ship it over the border. Worth it.

I’ve never watched an episode of Housewives and am not particularly interested in those posts, but it’s possible comments aren’t reflective of page views. After all, I’ve been lurking for years and only started commenting recently, inspired jy this pandemic (hence the username).

Yeah, I always figured that if I’m sweating it’s because my body is supposed to, so if I can find a way to do it without smelling, why not? I also find that the rare time I use antiperspirant...my back just ends up sweating more?

I saw her perform in Toronto this past September. I can confirm that she is lovely. And the audience was such a great mix of queers, stans (often an overlapping group), and dads from the suburbs with their daughters.

She is a national treasure. (I’m Canadian so I can say that.)

Antiperspirant for formal occasions for sure (and by formal, I mean weddings and funerals in the warmer months), but those are few and far between in my life. And even then, it’s sometimes more about being to squeeze in two wears before dry-cleanings instead of one.

CRJ was my #1 Spotify listen of 2019 — no joke. Downloaded her latest, looking forward to listening to it.

Natural deodorant is not necessarily trash. It’s a process of trial and error before you find the right one (or ones, if you’re lucky). And before you say, “You probably reek and don’t even know it,” I have many people in my life (large family with several siblings, pointed mother, blunt husband) who would tell me in

Not even a little bit, poor kid.

Staying where she was seems like the most responsible thing she could have done at the time. If you’re not sick and not planning to leave your residence — ie not draining local resources/potentially infecting others  — what’s the issue here?

Joining a gym seems to give some people a sense of accountability, I guess? But in most cases, not really, as apparently something like 90% of gym members apparently don’t even go regularly. I can see how a gym might give some people a sense of community, but I can’t relate to that at all. When I did attend classes

That sounds like a way to check something off the list — “Look, we’re responding to one of the top requests from the last employee survey!” — without implementing it in a way to make it even remotely useful. Then, when no one uses it, they can say: “I told you so! Everyone *says* they want to exercise, but...”

Honestly, it was a really long time ago, but it’s possible that I have a higher tolerance for unlikeable characters who make bad decisions than other people. I’ve never been in a relationship where I wasn’t publicly acknowledged, but I found her relatable in the “insecure teenager makes terrible decisions” kind of
