But we’re not talking about people ditching their good cars to buy a smaller car just to save on fuel costs. We’re talking about people who need to buy a new car or are in the market for a new car anyway. These sales are what will skew a bit more towards smaller cars.

This comment:

Except MOST people buy “SUV”s like the RAV4 or Honda Pilot which have comparable 2nd row room as their sedan counterparts.

If you can fit one rear facing child seat in a 3 series, you can also fit two. And how many people that aren’t driving minivans need more than one rear facing child seat at a time anyway? You only need rear-facing seats for a child up to 2 or 3 years old.

You know, parents seemed to survive just fine before SUVs blew up. Why is it so hard to believe that families could survive with a sedan or a station wagon? Anyways, most large families that really need more capacity simply get minivans. Most rear-facing child seats and ALL front-facing child seats fit fine in the

It’s about new car sales. People may not pre-emptively dump their SUVs for economy cars, but if there’s even a 20% shift in cars from SUVs to sedans, companies that rely heavily on SUVs will suddenly see a lot less revenue.

The AWD S450 is faster to 60 than the continental and the RWD S450 is the same (at 5 seconds). Peak power in an engine doesn’t really tell you that much. The S450 probably has better power/torque curves or just a more efficient drivetrain in general. Or advertised power figures are much more conservative for the MB.

I’ve sat in a couple new Continentals. While they have some nice touches, they still have the same problem Cadillac has. They blend in cheaper switchgear and plastics from their cheaper cars with high end materials. It makes the end product look unfinished. Cars like the S class don’t have that problem.

Ah yes, the “No I didn’t, YOU DID!” counter argument.

Dude, get over it. There was never a definition that said an SUV had to BOF construction. The Crossover term was just a way to differentiate the new crop of light duty SUVs that were literally adapted from car platforms. Many consider them all SUVs. And like a lot of things in life, not everything is super clear cut.

The source story was written by a Pulitzer price winning journalist from the NYT. And Tesla Motors actually has a 3.4 rating.

Dude, do 5 minutes of research first before responding. I’m not talking about ADB (what some people mistakenly call “eDiff”). Like the M3, those cars I listed use a real LSD. They have physical locking clutches in the differential. The reason it has the word “electronic” in it is because the locking plates are

I never drove sealed beams, but the jump between Halogen & Xenon was far greater than the jump from Xenon to LED. In many cases, LED headlights perform worse than their HID counterparts and at best throw out a bit more light. The bigger gains are in efficiency and more flexible headlight design.

Note that the 330i you test drove had the M Sport package and the 320d and 330e you test drove (with the weird three point star) were the Sport Line trim cars. That’s why the designs were different. All cars are available as Sport Line or M Sport and that’s what defines the bumper styling.

Actually, all BMWs with the M40i treatment (M340i, Z4 M40i, X3 M40i) have a standard electronically controlled diff (real mechanical eLSD).

This is pure clickbait. The first Z4 offered will be the high end model. The lower trim model will come later at a lower base price. So really the car doesn’t “start” at $65k like we think of it.

You can cherry pick as much data as you want to make any country seem like an oppressive regime. You don’t think there are countless examples of the American justice system holding people unjustly? Executing innocent people? Activist judges that clearly violate the constitution?

What are you talking about? Japan is ranked higher in the “Rule of Law” index than the United States and has very similar laws regarding arrest. From Wikipedia:

According to the WJP rule of Law Index, Japan is ranked higher than the United States by a healthy margin. The U.S. is still in a decent position right next to South Korea. What source do you have for your assertion that Japan is “much worse” than the United States?

You know he wasn’t “holding” her as a sex slave, though. I still think Allen deserves the brunt of the blame here, since he solicited a minor for sex. That’s clear. However, I’m shocked at the word choice by Monique Judge. Cyntoia was a prostitute and she met Allen near a fast food restaurant and solicited him for
