I'd say this is a prime candidate for a motor swap. I like the car, but keeping it factory original makes it less desirable, I think.

I think it's the hood bulge or something. It just made me think of the Mazda as soon as I saw it, more referential than exact match. Honestly, though, I think the Mazda does look better.
