I hate myself for saying this, but I think he might have a small point. The jump in probability of winning from a two run lead to a three run lead is probably smaller than the jump from one to two. That would make sense, as trying to score a single run opens up more strategies (bunt, sac fly, etc).

Maybe they think it’ll drive foot traffic and help sell higher margin products?
