I’m in favor of legislation that states that if police cannot or will not turn over body cam footage then they are by default pleading guilty to charges pending investigation of foul play.

Found the cop who actually shot the other cop!

Yeah, there’s no reason with todays tech, every minute of the full shift can’t be recorded and not turney offey by the officer or you’re fired.

I remember reading testimony from a former police officer about how, in training, they specifically instructed officers to shout something like “put your hands up” or “stop resisting” after they have already fired their weapons.

No body cam footage? How many officers were directly invovled?

I can just imagine the cops yelling “STOP RESISTING” as the last 20 to 30 bullets struck him and then they probably handcuffed whatever was left of his arms...

Based on this page it sounds like the officer in question survived.

Yeah, because in no way does his incomprehensibly vast fortune allow him to unduly influence the votes of others, engage in voter suppression programs, or even outright buy votes from impressionable or desperate people!

Yet today we all lose at least a quarter of our income to the income tax.

Same with Warren Buffett, who funds pipeline opposition which clearly benefits railroads, the comparatively less-regulated, less-safe, and higher-carbon-footprint-per-unit mode of transportation. Warren Buffett owns BNSF, which happens to be the only way to transport oil and gas without a pipeline.

If billionaires were taxed fairly, those charities wouldn’t need to exist and need to cater to the desires or political agendas of billionaires in order to garner the funds they need.

Where do you get your numbers?  Fifty million in a decade?  How?  At $107B, no additional gains, no loop holes to reduce the 3%, and only the 3% tax, he would still have over $5B after 100 years.  You’re the one making up numbers at this point.

That’s the thing. He didn’t earn that money. He earned some of that money. The rest was earned through his employees, that he controls the pay of beyond what the government says is the minimum, and that he actively wrings as much out of as possible while paying exactly the minimum it takes to keep the employees he

Under what measurable quantifier is this true? Are you simply assuming that ‘the 3%’ cancels out any gains through interest or other financial growth? Even if it did, pure maths says they’ve only given up 30% of their wealth at that stage....

Bill Gates demonstrates for the record that he is a miser among miserable men, who is neither willing to engage in fair play in a competitive market (see Microsoft), or that social benefit / greater good is any part of his ideology. Nice job trying to deflect with cheap jokes though.

If he votes for Trump it will only

I suspect part of his thinking is he’d rather control where the money goes himself. The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation is global, it does huge amounts of work in Africa and other poorer regions. Contrast that with paying more tax in the US, a country that could afford to have better social systems in place if they

Should he have made $107 Billion is an argument to be had, but I’m not going to sit here and say he didn’t earn his money.

I hope this article gets spread far and wide because Gates is always hailed as a “good” billionaire but when it comes down to it, he’s willing to ignore all the downsides of 4 more years of Trump just so he can avoid taxes.

This is as good of a reminder as any that billionaires care about controlling their wealth more than almost anything. Gates has been a critic of Trump for years, but he’s not above flipping sides to make sure that billionaires continue to exist.
