Mechanically, I definitely prefer the Sonic racing games. Mario Kart isn’t bad but it doesn’t feel as smooth and it struggles to give that sense of speed that I feel like any racing game should deliver on. Jak X is a much older one that I like a lot too. That may be my fav kart racer period.

Party finder and matchmaking are different things that serve the same purpose. Destiny never had either for raids in game. It got a party finder later on as a phone app. Matchmaking for raids isn’t a great idea but party finders are a mmo standard and have been for like a decade.

It’s a phone app when it should be in game, it launched months if not years after the game itself did, and it’s not even as robust as the numerous Destiny LFG wesbites that predate it’s existence. Don’t get me wrong, it’s good and I’m glad it’s there but it shouldn’t be a phone app.

Raid matchmaking is a terrible idea but every game that has raids or raid-like content should ABSOLUTELY have a party finder of some kind and I don’t understand how decades into the existence of and iteration of the mmo genre, games are releasing without that feature. Raids are typically some of the best content games…

100% agree with everything you’ve mentioned here. I also bought the pass just to throw some cash at Respawn out of love for the game and I’m sure I’ll do the same for the next one (and spend my Apex bux on a premium skin or something).

In the context of Battle Royales it is. Which isn’t to say that Epic should be ashamed or that Respawn should sue or anything silly like that because it’s just generally a great mechanic to have in a squad based game. It creates investment through ulterior goals within the game beyond just shooting guys.

Why would it be crass to suggest that Fortnite is aping good, useful, and worthwhile ideas from a direct competitor? That’s literally what’s happening.
