I am a conservative, and by most standards extremely old-fashioned, so I took it to mean that you shouldn’t run around chasing one casual hookup after another. And I believe (again, I am old-fashioned) that many of the #MeToo grievances would resolve themselves if sex outside committed relationships were less popular.

PS—whether they want to help a political movement or not, they will have to divulge this information. You don’t get to ignore discovery rules because *sisterhood*.

Agreed. BOTH THINGS CAN BE TRUE. Why the women of Jezebel (and their commenters) are incapable of grasping this is beyond me. It’s as if, “Because there is sexual assault,” it somehow follows that “There should be no reasonable limits whatsoever as to our response to it.”

I think the most common complaint against identity politics is that it leads to posts like yours, where one group on the victim hierarchy discounts the challenges of other groups in order to claim a higher priority.
