The video in the news report says that its tires and brakes. The video provided by the Turo guy shows that yeah, the car was raced, but the tires still had life left in them. My guess is he went and got quotes for new tires and brakes then chose one of the quotes to give to the news.

I don’t want to minimize any of the other big issues surrounding this, but we shouldn’t let the economic impact pass unacknowledged. A bunch of money and other resources were expended, becausecorrect and timely medical care was denied.

I believe the Texas mile is a standing mile where they shoot for the greatest average speed over the course of a mile. Acceleration and top speed are paramount.

Obviously the guy is lying. What I’m more confused by is how a near-stock Supra won anything? Don’t know how the Texas Mile works, but it’s either straight-up top speed, or classed, and either way, I just don’t see the Supra beating out all its competitors.
