It felt SO GOOD to vote in VA yesterday. Granted, I’m in a very blue county, but you could tell everyone’s eyes were shifting around to take note of what color “sample ballots” people had picked up, and discreetly nodding at one another.

It was also supposed to prevent the blue wave in 2006 as well. We really need to start taking over state houses before the next redistricting.

Guys, let this be a reminder of several things.

In Knoxville, Tennessee, 4 out of 5 city council seats went to women, the most women to ever serve at one-time. Seema(a socialist) became the first Indian-American woman elected to the council and Lauren(Democrat), a first-time candidate, defeated a former school board member and state legislator!

ALSO, it is likely that now that the VA House of Delegates will flip to blue, which would be incredible. Larry Krasner will be DA of Philadelphia, once all the most unelectable candidate, he opposes mass incarceration, is a big BLM supporter, and was hated by the police union. It’s going to be interesting seeing him…

Also! ALSO! St. Paul, MN elected our first African American Mayor last night-Melvin Carter! (He beat out the old white dude. Carter is a refreshing 37!) HELLO Mr. Mayor!

Which brings me to my next point. At what point will Republicans decide to stop appealing to an increasingly shrinking number of Americans and hoping they can just prevent enough of the other sorts of Americans from voting?
