So that means you’re going to be doing exactly what you call out in the article by covering more YouTube drama for page views? Love it.
I wish Klepek had your level of professionalism. Wait for the facts to come in (or seek them yourself) before reporting. What a novel concept.
You’re putting words in my mouth, I just said he was a blogger, not a reporter and that is true. He works for a blog, not a news network.
Gamespot is a news network, Polygon is a news network, and IGN is a news network. Kotaku? Kotaku is a gaming blog. Thus, he isn’t a reporter, he is a blogger. He isn’t reporting…
Look she said she was moonlighting and that’s why they let her go. It’s a simple concept. Just to clarify, moonlighting is a second job. Some moronic troll called ‘Wepive’ is claiming I said she was an escort and modified my post to moonlighting.
He may be an idiot but he’s not wrong. Gawker et al is not a journalism site.
She said herself she was moonlighting. The shitstorm that followed, caused by the media after she decided to go public is not Nintendo’s fault. They’ve no obligation to her after she’s left, she ceases to be an employee
All my sympathies but there is some truth to that. The staff at Kotaku should acknowledge that their reports based on rumors and half-truths quite possibly made the whole story much worse and helped things to spiral out of control. All of this would have probably taken another turn for Rapp if bloggers would stick…
This site created the mess, she was fired for a legit reason and Kotaku made it into the mess.
Also, Kotaku is a blog. This guy is not a reporter, he is a blogger.
I enjoyed your work at Giantbomb quite a bit, so it’s really sad to see you get sucked into this disgusting cesspool at Gawker- where doxxing and personal attacks draw horrified outrage (unless they’re directed at heterosexual men, of course, in which case Gawker fully approves and supports).
That’s the problem with Kotaku readers; they’re too stupid to realize that this is a blog site.
Probably having some ethics, that’s somewhere you could start. Unbiased views, truth, studied journalism, writing for a newspaper/news website, various other bits and bobs
No apologies here, the headline is ridiculous. She was fired as she was moonlighting. The headline here, ‘The mess that came after Nintendo fired...’.
If I’m an idiot what does that make all of you that can’t figure this shit out on your own?
Patrick going on Twitter after Allison got fired and he published his first story crying, “Why am I the only journalist covering this??” made me question his actual motivations. Other sites waited for the actual news to come in before jumping the gun and misreporting, which he did.
Don’t promote child sex and don’t escort while being a PR agent for a corporation. Is that so hard?
Honestly, I think articles like this are intentionally inflammatory. I say this for a few reasons:
