To be fair, the book Congo wasn’t really that great either. Crichton was well into his “this is a thinly veiled movie script” phase at that point.

I didn’t find the Mona Lisa itself underwhelming, but the crowd takes a lot out of the experience. What you get seeing it, or any painting, in person that you can’t get from an Internet search is being able to see the depth and texture of the actual brush strokes. There’s a dimensionality to a real painting you don’t

Everyone on the left that is. There are a LOT of pro-choice, pro-gay marriage, etc. moderates who identify as (R). There are also a lot of people who identify as (D) who would also like to see rampant government spending and waste cut off. There are also 51% of registered voters who don’t vote at all either out of

The increased militarization and “us vs. Them” mentality of police is a huge problem in this country across the board. Throw in no-knock warrants and cops shooting people’s dogs just because, and there is a universal problem of police being the aggressors and the biggest gang in America.

The only difference between (R) and (D) is that (R) is looting the middle class and the poor to give money to the rich and (D) wants to loot the middle class and the rich to give to the poor (the poor defined as anyone making below $50k a year). Both parties are happily fucking over the middle class.

Not in the main MCU, but otherwise, HELL YES! Look at the ending of Incredibles and imagine the F4 swooping in at the same time the family is putting their masks on.

If he had been able to come out as pro-choice, pro-gay marriage, pro-health care, etc. (As he was as governor) Fiscal conservative, he could have overcome much of that by branding himself properly. It wouldn’t guarantee a victory, but it would have been a much closer fight.

Goodbye smartphone. When my contract is up, I’ll be switching back to a dumb phone.

The candidates that the majority of Americans want to vote for can’t make it through the primary process.

The annoying thing about learning Spanish it Italian is that every noun and verb has a gendered variation and singular vs. Us. Vs. Them variations.

I know someone who works in radio. It’s a wasteland of corporate dictated top 40 playlists and corporate approved oldies/classics. Any station that tries a non-pop new music format sees its ratings nose dive. Even talk radio is a dead format. Radio is in its death throws.

My point is that with thousands of independent bands all self promoting, its very difficult to stand out from the crowd and garner more than an underground following. The playing field has been leveled, so noone is getting pushed to the top of the pile the way it used to work.

It’s one of the topics where liberals and libertarians agree.

There are many independent studies that show just the presence of a camera changes people’s behaviour. Usually making people more conservative and careful in their speech an body language. What you want most in an interview is for people to be as natural as possible.

Uniformed officers take basic information from witnesses at the scene. Detectives confer with the uniformed officers and decide who is a priority for them to talk to in more depth.

Your comment shows a fundamental lack of understanding of how the investigative part of police work is accomplished. Also, that “hear say” is not admissable in court. If the witness doesn’t come forward to testify or the cops can’t find some other source of verifiable evidence, it doesn’t matter what the cop says

The tech is not illegal. There is just no law that can force someone to use it.

One minor correction, recording should be triggered by pulling a weapon, but there should be at least a ten minute buffer of video from BEFORE the weapon was pulled. What is often missing from videos shown is everything that lead up to the encounter going bad. The behaviour of both sides just before weapons are drawn.

What about while trying to interview witnesses or victims who get real reluctant to talk to a recording camera?

Really hard to tell in the grainy b&w video. The only thing we can conclusively say is male. Or at least identifying as male. Need to be all inclusive here.
